Author Eduardo Garcia Aguilar, head of the Latin American desk in Paris for Agence France-Presse, examines the Zapatista uprising in Mexico as a response to the neo-liberal economic policies embraced by Mexican administrations over the recent years. At the same time he asks what it means to be Latin American in a period of ever-increasing globalism, "a dictatorship of technocrats and accountants that wishes to convert us into a great factory of Puritan zombies."
